STORYTELLERS  & CREW

The Keen Earthling Studios (TKES) is a curated, collaborative collective of visual storytelling professionals brought together to design and weave powerful visual narratives for influential humanitarian, environmental, and sustainability projects.

Led by Saee Bhurke — Creative Director, Head Photographer & Visual Consultant — TKES operates as a fluid and adaptive creative ecosystem. Rather than a fixed production team, we bring together carefully selected photographers, cinematographers, researchers, designers, and specialist contributors based on the vision, context, and executional requirements of each project. Saee remains the consistent creative backbone and visionary, ensuring continuity, coherence, and depth across every story we tell.  Our collaborators come from diverse academic, professional, and experiential backgrounds — including wildlife photography and natural history research, engineering, mountaineering and geographical exploration, amateur studies of meteorology and astronomy, botanical explorations, history and cultural heritage, Indian classical music, graphic design, painting, and other disciplines across Arts, Anthropology, and Technology.

This diversity is central to our practice. We believe that meaningful visual storytelling becomes richer when knowledge extends beyond the camera. Every project draws upon the collective intelligence, field experience, technical understanding, cultural sensitivity, and creative perspectives of the people involved. The result is a thoughtfully assembled creative team, purpose-built for each story — bringing together the right minds, skills, and visual language to communicate complex ideas with authenticity, sensitivity, and impact.

ETHICS & VALUES

From our crew and collaborators to our clients and audience, The Keen Earthling is anyone who approaches life and work with an absolute keenness in their heart — a curiosity to observe, understand, create, and contribute with purpose.

Great Things Take Time

In a fast-moving world of social media, instant gratification, and endless scrolling, we consciously choose a different pace.

Our belief in a slow lifestyle naturally reflects in our work ethic and the way we build relationships, create stories,

and grow as a collective. We value patience, depth, consistency, and the space required for good ideas to mature.

We prefer to work and collaborate with The Keen Earthlings — people, organisations, and brands who share a similar temperament and set of values. Those who believe that building a meaningful, sustainable brand is not about chasing

the rat race, but about finding a pace at which growth, creativity, purpose, and harmony can coexist.

We believe the most enduring work is rarely rushed. Great things take time — and we are comfortable taking that time.

Quality Over Quantity

We believe in growing deliberately rather than rapidly. Our pace is guided by the scale, complexity, and longevity of

the projects we undertake, allowing us to expand thoughtfully while maintaining the quality and integrity of our work.

Thoughtful, Long-Term Planning

For large-scale and recurring projects, we build continuity into the process.

Season-to-season planning, documentation, and visual consistency help us create bodies of work that evolve meaningfully

over time rather than existing as isolated productions.

Detailed Management & Clear Communication

Every project is supported by meticulous planning, micro-level management, and transparent communication. We believe clarity at every stage — from research and pre-production to execution and delivery — creates stronger collaborations and better outcomes.

Research-Driven Storytelling

We invest deeply in understanding the subject before we begin creating. Our work is built around research, context, and observation, with a focus on producing content that remains relevant and valuable for the long term.

Realistic Execution

We believe ambitious ideas need practical foundations. Our approach balances creative vision with the realities of location, resources, timelines, people, technology, and environmental conditions — finding intelligent ways to make the vision

achievable without compromising its essence.

Authenticity Over Manipulation

We value original thought and field-driven creation.

The visual work begins with real-world observation, experience, and human perspective. AI tools are used as an assistant for supporting and completing tasks, not as a tool to manipulate the visual truth of the stories we document.

Technical Knowledge & Support

Our practice is supported by continuously evolving technical knowledge. We stay informed about new tools, techniques, technologies, and workflows so that the right solutions can be applied when a project demands them.

The Right Equipment for the Right Story

We do not believe in a one-size-fits-all equipment philosophy.

Every project has its own environment, subject, scale, movement, light, technical requirements, and storytelling needs.

We therefore select and build our equipment setup according to the project — not the other way around.

EXPERIENCE & RECOGNITIONS

For over 12 years, we’ve been creating visual stories for brands across India, becoming their trusted storytellers and visual partners—with Saee Bhurke at the helm.

Our distinctive photography has been consistently published and featured across reputed media platforms, helping brands turn moments into memorable visual narratives.

WORKFLOW & PROTOCOLS

Our process is designed to keep creative vision, communication, planning, and execution aligned at every stage.

A clear process allows us to protect what matters most: the original idea, the integrity of the story,

and the quality of its final expression.

Concept, Research & Brainstorming

Every story begins with understanding.

We begin with a conversation — through a call, meeting, or site visit — to understand the project, its purpose, context, creative vision, scope, and expected deliverables. Together, we explore the possibilities, define the creative direction,

and establish the requirements of the project. Once the scope is finalised, we share the quotation and commercials.

Confirmation and advance booking allow us to secure the required time for crew coordination, research, pre-production,

and planning. Production dates and the expected duration of the shoot are then mutually finalised.

Pre-Production, Communication & Planning

Good visual storytelling begins long before the camera is switched on.

We research the subject, theme, locations, references, visual language, and practical requirements of the project.

Based on this understanding, we collaboratively develop the mood board and collect relevant visual references to establish a shared creative direction. We then prepare detailed shoot schedules, preparation lists, logistics, technical requirements,

and role allocations for both the production and client teams. The finalised plan is communicated across the relevant production and operations teams so that everyone involved understands their responsibilities and the intended workflow.

Our aim is to anticipate as much as possible before entering the field — while leaving enough flexibility

to respond intelligently and efficiently to the real-world conditions.

Production

This is where the plan meets the field.

Our carefully assembled crew executes the agreed production plan, schedule, workflow, and delegated responsibilities

within the confirmed dates and duration. At the same time, we understand that real-world production rarely follows a script perfectly. Locations, weather, light, people, subjects, access, and unexpected circumstances can influence the process.

Our team therefore works with a balance of discipline and adaptability, protecting the core creative vision while making informed decisions on the ground.

Post-Production & Delivery

The story continues after the shoot.

Once production is complete, all captured data is systematically collected and handed over to the post-production workflow.

Editing, image selection, processing, colour work, and other agreed post-production requirements are undertaken according to the scope and timeline established during pre-production. Our standard delivery timeline is generally 10–15 days after completion of the shoot, subject to the scale, complexity, and volume of the agreed deliverables.

Final outputs are delivered through secure cloud-based platforms or through another format

specifically requested and agreed upon with the client.
